Community Guidelines

BearGig is a community built on trust between UC Berkeley students. These guidelines keep it safe and useful for everyone.

Community Rules

Be honest

Describe your gig accurately. Do not misrepresent your skills, availability, or the scope of work.

Keep it legal

Do not post gigs for illegal services. This includes unlicensed professional services where a license is required.

Respect everyone

Harassment, threats, discrimination, or hate speech based on race, gender, religion, disability, or any other characteristic is not tolerated.

Protect privacy

Do not share another user's personal information, phone number, or address without their consent.

No spam or scams

Do not post duplicate gigs, unsolicited promotional messages, or gigs designed to defraud users.

Keep messages on-platform

For your safety, conduct initial conversations on BearGig before exchanging personal contact info.

Report violations

If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report button. Our team reviews all reports.

Safety Tips

Meet in public campus locations (libraries, cafes, open plazas).
Tell a friend where you are going for in-person gigs.
Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it probably is.
Use BearGig messaging rather than sharing your personal number until you trust the other party.
For high-value gigs, agree on a clear written scope before starting work.

Consequences

Violations may result in content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination depending on severity. Illegal activity will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
